Let's get cozy

All I've seen over any social media network lately is "sweater weather". It's only fitting that I do at least one post solely on sweaters and why we love them.

Any plain knit sweater can be accessorized with any kind of neaklace to add any kind of feel to an outfit. Sweaters and any kind of jewellery, for me go hand in hand to make my outfits shine. It seems like more or less the theme this season for sweaters are more neutral colours with gold accessories.

Grandpa sweaters are a winter classic. It's comfy, kinda tacky but also very cute. They're usually a bit more on the baggy side. For your lonely nights you can just cuddle up by the fire with your sweater, a good book and a hot chocolate!

There are also more sophisticated, form-fitting sweaters. They go well overtop of a denim buttun up or overtop of a nice skirt or dress.

Whatever your preference, zip ups or cozy knits, sweaters are a chilly season favourite for everyone.

Demin for days

Something that's always been around, but that's making a serious comeback is denim.

Denim jackets, fitted ones can look good with a dress, or loose ones can look good with a t-shirt and leggings. Boys denim jackets are good for the fall and go well with a sweater underneath for added warmth!

Ripped jeans are good for a rugged look or dark wash jeans for a polished look. Jeggings, in my opinion, are way more comfortable than regular jeans. Baggier jeans are finally coming back in style (thank God I hated having to wriggle into my pants). That's also a positive for boys. Skin tight jeans should belong on nobody (they're just not comfy), but maybe that's just me.

Demin button ups are also in style for men and women. Ladies you can even put a comfy sweater overtop! (Gotta love layering)

But really. The new big thing is denim on denim. A fashion faux pas for many years before is finally making a comeback. Just be careful and make sure you do two different colours of denim...or else it could look weird.

Black is the new....black?

Let's be honest, black is always a fall back colour especially in the colder weather.

Black leather is always trendy (if you can't afford leather you can always go for pleather!). From jackets (boys and girls) to pants to sleeves, black leather is always safe. Another great option is combat boots!

Every girl needs a LBD (little black dress) that you can wear on special occasions with some bling bling or just to wear out to coffee.

Leggings are a girls best friend. They're comfy and literally go with everything. My personal favourite pair of leggings are the shiny ones from American Apparel. The male equivalent to leggings would have to be black jeans. They can be used in a sleek looking outfit or even a lazy day outfit.

My go-to nail polish colour would have to be black. It goes with every single colour you wear and it looks polished and sleek finish.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Unfortunately (depending on your weather preferences) the cold weather is coming in. This means time for some winter jackets. scarves and big comfy sweaters. Basically it's time to bundle up and why not look good while doing so?
Like I've said before, oversize everything. From your coats to your sweaters. Long jackets with faux fur on the hood are always a cute way to stay warm, and it seems with every year they're getting longer and longer.

Layering is another way to stay warm, for guys and gals. Layer a button up with a nice sweater over top and maybe even a knit scarf.

Faux fur is a trend that I personally am not so keen on, but it can look cute if worked properly. Vests can always keep you warm and help put that edge into an outfit. Maybe just don't go for a full, huge jacket.

Blanket scarves are definitely something I'm going to look into this winter. It seems like over-sized clothes will live on through the winter, that's okay though, looking good and being comfy, what's better than that?

#DIESELREBOOT

While skimming through the fall edition of Vogue I found an ad for Diesel that really stood out to me called DEISELREBOOT so I decided to investigate further.
The reason this article stood out to me was because usually when you look through a fashion magazine all of the models start to look the same. Very thin white women with "striking" features. What really struck me was when I turned the page and saw a bigger girl with tattoos, piercings and pink hair, then I turned to page and saw an Asian woman. Diversity was the first word that came to mind. I would have never imagined seeing this in a magazine like Vogue  where they feature brands like Chanel, Prada and Burberry. I thought it was such a great idea for them to put it in. I know I feel a little insecure while looking at all of these perfectly photo shopped models in the ads, yet seeing someone who looked average, like someone you could see on the street almost gave me some hope that maybe our ideals of beauty can be changed. I mean although this girl may not be societies ideal of beautiful, I thought she was. Nice job Diesel!

British Fashion Icons

Rita Ora is a British singer who is known for her keen sense of fashion. She's also been seen hanging around supermodel Cara Delevingne. She's well known for her bleach blonde hair and bright red lips. Her funky retro style is what makes her, in my opinion, a fashion icon.

Kate Middleton who can forget Kate? She's literally always in the public eye and she always looks good. She's an amazing role model for girls trying to dress classy. She's classy and sophisticated but in a stunning way, she can captivate a crowd's attention.

Victoria Beckham or as some people may know her, Posh Spice. She really lives up to that name. Victoria Beckham has impeccable style and really knows how to work her outfits. She also has her own clothing line. She must be doing something right I mean she is married to David Beckham!

Robert Pattinson is notorious for his "bad boy" rugged look, but he certainly cleans up well. Robert can throw on a hat and a flannel shirt and go from the rugged "homeless" look to suiting up and showing off his classy side.

FOR THE LOVE OF FASHION

Some people may think that the fashion industry is superficial and shallow, don't get me wrong it can be, but I'm going to show you what made me and others fall head over heels for it.

Reason 1: It's something to be passionate about and it goes on forever. Like the saying goes "La mode se démode, la style jamais." It's a fast paced business and trends are always changing, it's exciting and tiring all at the same time.

Reason 2: It's a way to express yourself, to identify yourself to others. I know what you're thinking, it's wrong to judge a book by its cover but it's not always negative. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they dress and the way that they present themselves.

Reason 3: It's art. To some, designers clothes may look odd and uninteresting but it's real, living, breathing art! How much more real can it get than walking down a runway in front of you? The makeup, the hair and the clothing on the models make them almost inhuman and more like art.

Reason 4: Retail therapy is the best kind of therapy, for me, honestly, shopping is the most relaxing thing I can do. It takes all my focus, time and energy when I'm at the mall planning outfits. Some people read, others meditate. Well I love to spend all of my money on clothes. Even reading a good magazine is a distraction mechanism that I often use.
